ENTANGLEMENT

Should I not an endless penance endure

deemed guilty of a choice, in error made,

though the left path I took, my heart was pure,

so surely must this innocent crime now fade.

None can say when such dice are thrown

and wheels of myriad changes slowly spin

what will happen in our great unknown,

for choice contains fate’s algebra within.

Did I unwittingly, with my first step taken

cause an ineffable complex chain to start,

my footfall leaving a city by quake shaken

the very heavens by storm ripped apart.

Or had I walked on idle notion to the right,

would that path have brought me true love

by chance under the moon and starlit night,

for all is entangled and as below so above.

    1. Thank you for your thought I genuinely appreciate it. The piece is actually speculating about Quantum entanglement and how our thoughts/actions/choices may unwittingly set chains of events in action that can have consequences = ” for choice contains fate’s algebra within.Did I unwittingly, with my first step taken cause an ineffable complex chain to start,my footfall leaving a city by quake shaken ”
      We could be responsible for and therefore technically guilty of all manner of negative results…..without knowing it = ” though the left path I took, my heart so surely must this innocent crime now fade.”
      Not at all about internal conflict and quite impossible to untangle.

      1. If one, when they took that ‘left turn’ was not able to fathom the negative chain of event consequence(s) that could or did occur – are they in fact guilty for the entirety of the domino effect that occurred?
        That amount of responsibility and power is a scary concept.
        That is when I apply the theory of ‘putting my head in the sand’.

      4. Ah, great reply ! You’ve got it, responsible yes, guilty no. The number of possible permutations is incalculable hence we refer to chance and coincidence, but it could be that nothing is random. Your ‘sand’ theory cracked me up !

      5. Perhaps nothing is random. But then we would just be an array of computer systems working on an unforeseen individualised or whole program? Who developed the program? 😳☺️
        When one makes the wrong turn and looks back at the chaos they may or
        may not have contributed to, Sand therapy does wonders! 🙂

  2. A thought provoking write. Entanglement has to be my new favorite word. ‘Choice contains fate’s algebra within’. This stood out to me and I think it ties in well with the title. The choices we make are still connected to chance, all intersecting. Am I reading that right? The whole piece is strong, and that ending wraps it all up nicely. I simply love your poetry.

    1. Of course you are, you are the most spiritually aware person I’ve met in a long while Lynn. I talk about seeing not looking but also there’s levels of feeling that most people, unlike you, never access . Are you sure you’ve not got Celtic blood in you my entangled friend ?
